A current TV serial explores the
concept of a world without electric power. The scenario they describe is
frightening. The entire means of our survival is based around power from
another source. We are more dependent than we realize upon the mechanized, motorized,
electric powered world of our own creation. Yet if we realized the enormous
latent power
that lies within reach of our human spirit, we would live in a
totally different world.
Imagine with me a world where such
power was available that; “to think is to do!” You could change things! You
could heal! You could create solutions of incredible wisdom and beauty! Sounds
like Heaven, doesn't it? Wrong. It’s the Kingdom of God.....and it’s available now. God never did put any
limits on the power that he can give through His Church.
You may think this is a very
idealistic statement and not really practical but the simple truth is “we have
not because we ask not.” James 4:3. How often we needlessly struggle in life
and excuse our lack of faith by lamely quoting “His grace is sufficient for
me…”
Jesus thought the father wanted him
to walk across the Sea of Galilee, so He went ahead and did it. He was
hard-wired to the awesome power of His Father then said to us; “greater things
shall you do.” Perhaps the only thing stopping us from doing greater things is
that we are reliant on the power we know every day. We simply need to learn how
to function in the power of now of our dependence on Jesus.
