Walk by Faith and not by Sight

Mark 5:36    “...Do not be afraid, ONLY BELIEVE.”
Newsletter 22nd July 2102
Walking by faith and not by sight is actually much easier than most Christians think.  You are probably sitting down right now reading this article.  It is my assumption that you are sitting on a chair that you probably sit on regularly?  Did you approach that chair cautiously, crawl under it and check out the legs, then the structure and angle of the seat and back rest to make sure that it would hold your weight?  I don’t think so because  you believed that the chair was NOT going to collapse under you as you sat down.

And what happens when there is something wrong with you and you have to see a doctor?  You make an appointment with the receptionist for a specific time on a specific day to see some doctor who is just passing through your part of the world on their OE.  When you arrive there you realise you can’t even pronounce their name properly and you certainly haven’t verified their degrees.  You reveal all your personal details to this stranger and accept a prescription you cannot read.  When you leave you pay the receptionist the required consultation fee and you are not even healed yet!  You then take the prescription to the Pharmacist you don’t really know who gives you a chemical compound you do not understand.  And...when you get home you faithfully take the pills according to the exact instructions on the bottle.
“ONLY BELIEVE.”  What comes to your mind when you look at these two VERY BIG WORDS?  It is truly amazing how we as people just ‘blindly’ walk by faith every day out there without realising it.  We trust so many ‘things’ in this world and when Jesus says; “ONLY BELIEVE,” we can’t do it.  We trust our own experience or intelligence or problem-solving abilities and are always found wanting because we just don’t have all the answers.  He does, and that is why He wants us to trust HIM – fully!  It seems like it requires MORE faith for them to believe what God has ALREADY done for them and what is their full inheritance in the covenant than to believe God for new things.  You see, God already had all the answers for ALL your problems even BEFORE they occurred.  He doesn’t have to ‘think’ of a solution to your problem or dilemma at all, as He IS the solution and also has all the answers.  Read Ephesians 1:3 or 2 Peter 1:3 if you don’t believe me.
